Companion Animal Memorial Ceremony with Ash Scattering

Lake Tahoe Ash Scattering for Pets

We are honored to offer private ash scattering for your beloved animal on the Nevada side of Lake Tahoe.

These services are offered on our 19’ vessel, a 2021 Tahoe TS, which departs and returns from the Tahoe Keys, a community in South Lake Tahoe.

The boat is named the Tahoe Gem, in honor of our rabbit who passed away in 2020.

We pride ourselves on offering you a beautiful, heartfelt, and affordable experience. A detailed overview of our services is provided below.

Please use the calendar to book your preferred date.

We would like to make your time with us as special and meaningful for you as possible. We invite you to email us at GemLakeTahoe@gmail.com to customize your service.

With warmth and kindness,

Dustin Kieschnick & Katie Lawlor

What to expect during our time together

We both hold doctorates in clinical psychology, and provide therapy for those who have lost their beloved animals. One question we are often asked is, “how do I memorialize my pet?”

We combined our dedication to pet parents, Lake Tahoe, and boating to serve you during this poignant time.

We take exceptional care to offer you a tailored experience to honor your beloved animal.

Departure: Our boat is located within the Tahoe Keys, a community of South Lake Tahoe. We will enter Lake Tahoe via the Tahoe Keys Marina.

The exact address will be sent to you once your booking is confirmed.

Trip length: The total trip takes approximately 2 hours from dock to dock. We can add an additional tour of Emerald Bay after the scattering service.

Recommended time of day: While we are flexible and will work with you to schedule the time of your service, we recommend a morning departure, beginning anytime from 6am on. The lake tends to become choppy and windy as the day progresses, and we want to ensure a smooth and calm experience.

Attendees: We invite up to 3 loved ones on board.

What we provide: A selection of waters and soft drinks, a chest of ice, towels and blankets, and sunscreen.

After the ceremony, we will send you a memorial card with the location of your memorial, including the longitude, latitude, date, and Captain’s signature.

Staff: Your booking comes with a Captain and one staff member.

What you can bring on board (all optional): a favorite music list on your phone that we can connect via Bluetooth; photos, prayers, poems, and readings to share; flowers to add to the lake during the service; and any additional beverages and food you would like to enjoy while on board.

Safety: The safety of our passengers is paramount. Our boat is licensed with the State of California, and we have all the required safety equipment on board, including life jackets. We most recently passed inspection in May 2024.

Emerald Bay Tour: Several of our guests wish to take a tour of Emerald Bay after the service. We would be glad to arrange this for you. Please note this does add approximately 90 minutes to the original 2 hours, for a total of 3.5 hours.

Cost: The entire cost for the service, including a captain, staff member, and taxes is $700.

The additional cost for an Emerald Bay tour is $300.
