Depression

Depression is a common, but serious mental health condition that affects how a person feels, thinks, and handles daily activities. It's more than just feeling sad or going through a rough patch; it's a persistent feeling of sadness and loss of interest that can lead to a range of emotional and physical problems. People with depression might experience a lack of energy, changes in appetite or sleep, difficulty concentrating, feelings of worthlessness or excessive guilt, and in severe cases, thoughts of death or suicide. It's important to recognize that depression is not a weakness or something that one can simply "snap out of." It's a medical condition that requires understanding and treatment.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is an effective treatment for depression, focusing on how our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are interconnected. The premise is that negative thought patterns and beliefs can lead to depressive feelings and unhelpful behaviors. CBT aims to help individuals identify and challenge these negative thoughts, learn more adaptive ways of thinking, and engage in more positive behaviors.

Therapy sessions with me would involve working to develop skills to recognize and alter harmful thought patterns, practice problem-solving skills, and set realistic goals. This approach can help reduce symptoms of depression, improve mood, and increase feelings of well-being. My therapy services provide a structured, supportive environment where clients can learn these strategies and apply them to their daily lives, helping them to overcome depression and move toward a more hopeful, positive future.
