Relationship Difficulties

Even good relationships can be tough at times. But when relationships become complicated or difficult, it can be de-stabilizing. Whether as a couple, as a family, or as friends, I use an emotionally focused therapy (EFT) and emotionally focused family therapy (EFFT), attachment-based approach.

Using an EFT/EFFT approach basically means we focus on the how feelings and emotions of connectedness are misunderstood and/or miscommunicated. My role is often like a process consultant, to observe connection and communication breakdowns, and bring them to awareness so that we can work through them.

I see both couples and families, often when a trauma or series of traumas has impacted the system. My expertise largely comes from my experience working at the Intensive Family Therapy Program at University of California, San Francisco (UCSF).
